Big Ideas 2017

The "Big Ideas" symposium invites abstracts that are innovative research project proposals related to person centered care at RMH.

This symposium is will be held Thursday 22 June 2017, 2.00-5.00 pm.

How to submit your abstract

Thank you very much for your interest in presenting at Melbourne Health Research Week 2017! Please follow the guidelines for the submission of your abstract.

  • Register or login to the system. If you have previously submitted abstracts for Research Week, you will already have an account.
  • Fill in the submittal information including Presenting Author Details, Preferences and Abstract Details
  • Check your details and abstract before submitting. You will not be able to make changes to your abstract after you have submitted.
  • Submit your abstract.
  • If submitting more than one abstract, you will need to make separate submissions for each.  

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Big Ideas symposium is open Melbourne Health and La Trobe University Nursing and Allied Health staff and students
  • The abstract should detail an idea that the applicant believes will improve patient care.

How do I write the abstract for my idea?

  1. What is your aim? What will your idea achieve?
  2. What is the background of the issue?
  3. How could you achieve your aim? What is the method of achieving and measuring your goal?
  4. Where to from here? 

Terms and Conditions

  • The submission of an abstract carries with it the obligation that it is presented at Research Week by the author 
  • Submission of an abstract implies the author(s) agreement to publish the abstract in the Research Week program.  
  • All abstracts selected will be published in the Research Week Program which will be available for download from the The Royal Melbourne Hospital website.
  • Once submitted, the abstract cannot be edited. Please ensure that all details are correct before submitting. Abstracts will be published exactly as received and should be checked for spelling and grammar prior to submission. 
  • A sub-committee of the Melbourne Health Research Week Committee will be responsible for evaluating the Big Idea abstracts and reserves the right to allocate presentations.

Notification of Outcome

Applicants  will be notified of the outcome of by 15 May 2017

La Trobe University "Big Ideas" Award

This prize will be awarded on behalf of La Trobe University to the most innovative and engaging presentation at the Big Ideas symposium. This award recognises the efforts of a presenter who has provied a clear, engaging and innovative presentation about their "Big Idea" in relation to patient centered care at RMH.
